Extruder Operator

Mancan has partnered with a Rittman company and we are looking for extruder technicians! Shift times available are: 6am to 3pm for 1st and 12pm to 10pm 2nd and 10pm to 8am for 3rd. You can choose whichever shift works best for you! Pay is based on experience, starting at $15.50 for limited experience and extends up for more skilled workers.
As an Extrusion Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining extrusion machinery to produce various plastic products according to specific specifications and quality standards. Your role is vital in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the extrusion process, from setting up equipment to troubleshooting and conducting routine maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation: Operate extrusion equipment, including setting up and adjusting machine parameters, temperature controls, and material feeds, to ensure proper product formation and quality.
2. Quality Control: Monitor and inspect the output of the extrusion process to ensure products meet company and industry quality standards. Take appropriate corrective actions when defects or variations occur.
3. Material Handling: Manage raw material inventory, loading materials into the machine, and handling any material changes during production runs.
4. Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the extrusion equipment to keep it in optimal working condition. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues promptly, coordinating with maintenance personnel for more extensive repairs when needed.
5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety concerns or incidents to supervisors promptly.
6. Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production and quality records, documenting machine settings, material usage, and any issues encountered during the production process.
8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow technicians, operators, and other team members to ensure seamless production flow and achieve production targets.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in manufacturing or extrusion technology are advantageous.
- Proven experience as an Extrusion Technician or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine issues effectively.
- Knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment operation, and quality control principles.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise specifications.
- Physical stamina to handle standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks in a production environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
