Job Description: Mentor – Industrial Painter
Location: Mentor, OH
Shift:*1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) with overtime as needed
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Mentor – Industrial Painter to join our team. This hands-on role is critical in leading by example, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality painting of steel fabrications such as beams, pipes, guards, ductwork, tanks, and vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to tackle various tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Painting and Coating:
- Prepare metal surfaces for primer and final coat application by cleaning, sanding, and masking as needed.
- Apply industrial paint using appropriate methods, such as spraying, rolling, or brushing.
- Ensure proper coverage, finish, and durability for all steel fabrications.
- Material Preparation:
- Prepare and inspect steel components, ensuring they meet specifications for painting.
- Mix paints and coatings to achieve the desired quality and finish.
- Mentorship:
- Provide guidance and training to team members, sharing best practices for painting and related tasks.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Shop Work and Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Assist in general shop work, including cleanup, maintenance, and organization.
- Support other tasks and projects as assigned, maintaining a flexible and open mindset.
- Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Inspect completed work to meet quality and safety standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and ensure team adherence to protocols, including proper use of PPE.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in industrial painting, particularly with steel fabrications such as beams, pipes, tanks, and vessels.
- Knowledge of painting techniques, equipment, and materials, including primers and topcoats.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
- Physical ability to perform tasks, including standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and operating equipment for extended periods.
- Open and flexible mindset to perform miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a steel fabrication or industrial setting.
- Certification in industrial painting or coatings is a plus.
