Body Shop Technician

Mancan is working with a company in Millersburg seeking an experienced body shop technician. This is a temp to hire position for the right candidate based on attitude, attendance, and performance. Pay is $18-$20 per hour based on experience. Standard hours are Monday to Friday from 8-5 with the occasional Saturday as needed.
The Body Shop Technician is responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicle body parts and exterior finishing. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of vehicle repair processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Damage Assessment:
- Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage and required repairs.
- Provide accurate estimates for body repair costs and timeframes.
- Body Repairs:
- Perform structural and non-structural repairs, including frame straightening, dent removal, and panel replacement.
- Repair or replace damaged body parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and industry standards for safety and quality.
- Surface Preparation and Painting:
- Sand and prepare surfaces for painting.
- Mix and apply paint to match the vehicle’s original color and finish.
- Finishing, including polishing and buffing.
- Part Replacement and Installation:
- Remove and replace damaged parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, and doors.
- Install and align new parts to ensure proper fit and operation.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Perform test drives to ensure that the vehicle is functioning properly after repairs.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed.
- Complete work orders and update the status of repairs in the system.
- Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with customers to explain repairs and provide updates on the progress of their vehicle.
- Address any customer concerns or questions with professionalism and courtesy.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification from an accredited technical school or program in auto body repair preferred.
- Previous experience as a body shop technician or in a similar role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and ability to work with precision.
- Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to fumes and noise.
